After 5 years of Chillout Hostel & Cafe, we decided to open this second hostel.
Of course it should be around Taksim again - the touristic atmosphere of sultanahmet is not bearable! But since Taksim means 24 hours liveliness & colors, we wanted to open the second place where the sounds of center start to fade out. Taking the İstiklal Avenue as center, this living area is growing every year.

Chillout Galata is located on a side street with a local neighbourhood, going from İstiklal Avenue (Tünel square) to historical Galata tower (Galata square) - both 2 min away on walking: not surrounded by shops or bars, just at the down street of Galata Mevlevihanesi - the cultural museum of Rumi.

The sea is also quite near, even though the Tünel makes it easier. (it is the second-oldest subway line in the world, after the London Underground) You may take the "metro" for some seconds and then you will meet the Galata bridge on the sea - the entrance of "the Golden Horn"- where you can sit and watch the perfect silhouette of İstanbul, while eating your fresh served fish.

On the other side of the galata bridge starts the old town with many historical structures. You can take the tram to Sultanahmet in 2 minutes or take the ships and ferries to asian side of İstanbul or Prince İslands. Also the trains from Europe arrive here.
